Rainwater Tank Installation – Chelsea Project
✅ Project Overview
Another neat and tidy tank job by the Outright Plumbing Maintenance team!
We were recently called out to a property in Chelsea to remove/replace an old, damaged rainwater tank . The homeowner needed a reliable plumber to safely disconnect the existing system and dispose of the old materials — and that’s exactly what we delivered.
Scope of Works:
Cut into the existing 90mm downpipe and reconfigure for overflow connection
Cut up and remove the old 2000L slimline water tank from site
Disconnect and remove the existing water pump
This job required careful handling to avoid damaging nearby structures and services. We ensured a clean, efficient removal and made sure all plumbing was left in a safe, future-ready condition.
Installing a rainwater tank isn’t just a smart move for your garden — it’s a great way to cut down on water bills and contribute to a more sustainable future. In areas like Chelsea where rainfall is fairly reliable, a tank like this can make a noticeable difference.
The Importance of Proper Rainwater Management
Whether you're replacing an old tank or upgrading your setup, proper rainwater management is essential — especially in coastal suburbs like Chelsea where rainfall can be unpredictable. An efficient overflow system prevents water damage and ensures your tank performs at its best year-round.
At Outright Plumbing Maintenance, we always ensure overflow connections are done right the first time — no leaks, no hassle.

Why the Tank Had to Go
Over time, water tanks can wear out due to UV exposure, ground movement, or poor installation. In this case, the existing 2000L slimline tank had become cracked and was no longer holding water effectively. On top of that, the connected pump had failed and needed to be removed to prevent further issues.
Removing an old tank and pump might seem simple, but it involves:
Safely cutting and dismantling the tank
Handling any electrical pump disconnections
Ensuring the existing pipework is left clean, capped, and safe
We took care of everything from start to finish, leaving the site clean and ready for the next stage.
🔄 Thinking of Replacing Your Old Tank?
If your rainwater tank is leaking, rusted, or just not working efficiently anymore — it could be time to consider a replacement. New slimline models are space-saving, UV-resistant, and designed for Melbourne’s climate. We can help you choose the right size and setup for your property.
